Coaching Profiles

Head Coach – Conor Fitzgerald

Coach Fitz is entering his 10th season at the helm of the falcon wrestling program. Fitz is an Olathe South Alumni, as he graduated from South in 2004. While at South coach Fitz was a four year starter, a 3X state qualifier, a 2X state placer (5th, 2nd), and a 2X team captain. Coach Fitz is also a member of the century club, as he compiled 106 career victories as a Falcon. 

Coach Fitz went on to wrestle for the University of Central Missouri. Fitzgerald was a captain for the mules in his senior season, finishing 5th in the region. In his eight seasons at the helm, Fitz has produced 61 State Qualifiers, 16 State Placers, and four State Champions. Fitz was named the 2016 Kansas 6A Coach of the Year by the KWOA, the 2019 6A Eastern Regional Coach of the Year, and the 2020 Sunflower League Coach of the Year.

Coach Fitz teaches AVID, PE and Weights at OSHS. He lives in Olathe with his wife Lauren and two daughters Grace and Isabelle!

Assistants Coaches:

Greg Waag – Head Varsity Assistant
This is Coach Waag’s 6th year in the program. Greg attended Oologah high school in Oklahoma where he was a state runner-up and state champion. Coach Waag went on to wrestle at the University of Central Missouri, where he and Coach Fitz became teammates and close friends. He now works as a medical lab technician in Lenexa. Greg lives in Lees Summit with his wife Meredith and two sons.

Eric Mateo – Varsity Assistant
Coach Mateo is entering his 5th year on staff. Eric attended Waynesville High School in Missouri where he was a Class 4 State Champion and Fargo All-American. Coach Mateo would continue his wrestling career at the University of Central Missouri where he became a national qualifier. Eric lives in Overland Park with his fiance, Alyssa, and baby girl! Eric works as a safety manager for Amazon.

Patrick Fitzgerald – Varsity Assistant / Head Strength & Conditioning Coach
Coach Fitz Sr. is entering his 6th season with the program. Previously, Pat coached football, wrestling, golf, and was the head strength and conditioning instructor at Blue Valley West High School. With nearly 40 years experience and a proven track record of success, Coach Fitz Sr. is one of the best strength coaches in the Midwest. It’s special for Pat to be able to coach with his son, and he will elevate our program in the areas of strength and conditioning.

Adam Christopher – Head Junior Varsity Coach
Coach Christopher is entering his 8th year as an assistant coach. Adam wrestled for Olathe North in high school, but we don’t hold that against him! Coach Christopher is in the Social Studies department at Olathe South where he teaches Government and American History. Adam is also an assistant football coach for the Falcons, working mostly with the offensive and defensive lines. 

Tylor Crumrine – Junior Varsity Assistant
Coach Crumrine is entering his 5th year as a coach. Tylor graduated from Olathe South in 2014. He was a 3X Varsity Letterman for the Falcons, as well as a member of the Guts Club during his senior season. Tylor lives in Olathe and is taking classes at JCCC. Coach Crumrine will work primarily with the Junior Varsity.

Adam Myer – Junior Varsity Assistant
Coach Myer is entering his 2nd season as an assistant coach. Adam teaches in the business department at Olathe South, and also coaches the offensive line for the Falcon football program. Coach Myer graduated from Shawnee Mission North in 2004 and was a standout football player and wrestled heavyweight. He lives in Shawnee with his wife and two daughters.
