Olathe South Falcons fought hard throughout the entire game but couldn’t catch up to an experienced, Tatum Clopton and the Firebirds in a 9-0 loss on Tuesday.
In the first inning, Lawrence Free State got their offense started. Tatum Clopton singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. The Falcons struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Lawrence Free State later in the game. In the fourth inning, the firebirds tacked on three more runs, then another run in the 5th and four more runs in the sixth inning.
One bright spot for Olathe South was a single by Ashtyn Grissom in the fifth inning to break up the No-Hitter. Clopton was the winning pitcher for Lawrence Free State, going seven innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out 16 and walking zero.
Sarah Proberts took the loss for Olathe South. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing nine runs on 13 hits and striking out 11.
The Falcons are 2-1 on the season and will be back on the field Thursday @ CBAC vs. Olathe West!
