The Falcons celebrated the survivors and remembered those that have lost their battle with cancer in their Pink Night game vs. Olathe North on Friday.
Despite a 7-run deficit in the sixth inning, the Falcons almost came all the way back, eventually falling 12-10 to Olathe North. Olathe South scored five runs in the failed comeback on an error and a grand slam by Jadyn Sheffield.
The Falcons collected 13 hits in the high-scoring game. Ashtyn Grissom, Sydney Ballard, Jadyn Sheffield, Taryn Hull, and Ashlee Jackman each managed multiple hits for Olathe South Falcons. Sheffield was 2-for-5 with a grand slam homerun in the top of the 7th for four RBI’s. Grissom was 2-for-4 with two RBI’s. Ballard and Jackman were both 2-for-4 with one RBI each, Jackman with a triple. Hull was also 2-for-4 on the night.
Sarah Proberts took the loss for Olathe South. The lefthander lasted six innings, allowing 13 hits while striking out eight against a very strong line up. Unfortunately, the Falcon defense made some errors that Olathe North capitalized on. Proberts only gave up 7 earned runs in the game.
The Falcons are back at it on Tuesday vs. SMS at Shawnee Mission South High School at 4:00pm.
